Infrastructure Engineer, Fleet Cloud Platform

Every robot Fernway ships phones home to a cloud platform for fleet coordination, software updates and telemetry, and this role sits on the small infrastructure team that keeps that platform running. A bad rollout does not just cause an outage — it can strand robots mid-task inside a customer's warehouse, which shapes how the team treats anything touching deployment.

Kubernetes clusters serving fleet traffic sit at the center of the job: managing them day to day, extending the CI/CD pipeline that ships firmware updates out to robots already in customer sites, and helping build a canary-rollout mechanism now on the near-term roadmap specifically to shrink the blast radius of a bad push — a project this role would likely lead once it starts. Incident reviews after any deployment issue happen with the whole team, not just whoever was on call.

Required: solid production experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and AWS, plus comfort owning a CI/CD pipeline that ships Docker-packaged updates without hand-holding from another team. Fernway is looking for roughly three to five years of infrastructure experience in this seat. Direct exposure to fleet or IoT-style systems, where devices in the field depend on the cloud staying reachable, is a real plus here but not a requirement — the team would rather teach that context than screen out otherwise strong infrastructure candidates.

Toronto is where this role sits full time and in person, alongside the rest of Fernway's Toronto engineering group rather than any distributed arrangement. You would report to the infrastructure engineering manager for the fleet cloud platform, with planning sessions and incident reviews run in person as a matter of course rather than over video.
