Product Design Lead

Inside Jobbbler's demo product, the assistive agent activity views were reading as loading spinners rather than a search actually happening, and a first-time viewer squinting at that screen during a demo recording is what pushed this design lead role onto the roadmap.

As design lead you set the interaction direction for that surface, turning research findings into flows that make an AI-assisted job search feel legible instead of magical. Day to day means running generative and evaluative sessions with people watching the demo cold, extending the shared design system with new patterns for agent status and progress, and pairing with engineers in Berlin to get prototypes into working code before the next recording. The next problem is a progress view for when an agent hits a captcha or login wall mid-search.

Required: fluency in Figma across exploration and production files, hands-on user research experience running both generative and evaluative sessions, and a track record extending a shared design system rather than working around it. The scope here sits at lead level: you set direction across a surface rather than accumulate a set number of years, though several years leading design work is the realistic floor. Deep coding ability is not required — engineers own implementation once a prototype holds up.

The role is hybrid out of Berlin, in the studio a few days a week for critique sessions that get genuinely argumentative before landing on a direction. You report to the head of product design, who expects decisions defended with research evidence rather than taste alone. The rest of the week is yours to arrange around research sessions and engineering pairing.
